About the Kitchen
The Wellness Initiative proudly runs and operates a fully functional, state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen. The Kitchen, housed in the University's Recreation and Wellness Center on East Campus, features a 4-burner gas cooktop, 2 convection ovens, french door refridgerator/freezer, as well as 2 cameras and 4 widescreen displays for demonstrations. Wellness Services continuously hosts events and demonstrations, providing students, faculty/staff and the community with nutritious meals and recipes that are budget-friendly.
Kid + Parent Cooking
When kids participate in cooking, they are more likely to explore a variety of food and learn basic math skills along the way. Campus Recreation's Kid + Parent Cooking Classes provide an easy way to teach the whole family about cooking while making fun memories, and each class includes dinner for the evening.
Not only do children help with making the meal, they'll learn the basics about nutrition and food groups, while having fun with a new activity for the family. The Wellness Kitchen instructors take care of all the prep and clean-up. Classes are open to the public.
Class size is limited and instructors can accommodate all special dietary needs. After registering, participants will be contacted about any special dietary needs. This class is recommended for children aged three years and older.
