Work Continues on Wellness website:

So much work is going on "behind the scenes" to improve the effectiveness of the wellness website. Although you may not be able to "see" the changes until late fall, the following updates are being made:
  1. Alpha-topic Wellness Resource List
  2. Archived Articles, flyers, etc. for various wellness topics for each of the 7 elements of wellness
  3. "Ask the Experts" blog for nutrition and/or physical activity, linked to Facebook
  4. Web-based wellness programs linked directly to the wellness site

Upcoming Fall 2009 Wellness Opportunities:

Believe it or not, we are in the final stretch of the fall semester! Please be sure to encourage a safe and "well" end to the semester/holiday by encouraging frequent hand washing, staying home if you are ill, and promoting the University's emergency policy on illness- especially as it relates to recent breakouts of H1N1. To review the policy, please visit: http://emergency.unl.edu.

The UNL Wellness Initiative Facebook account is now available! Become a fan and be sure to invite others to join. Not only will you be connected with others interested in wellness, you will get Nutrition updates weekly through the online blog and be the first to know about new materials, events or resources.

Finally, we have a very exciting beginning to the new year… UNL will be launching a year-long wellness healthy lifestyles and weight management program. You will all be contacted in the near future with additional details.

Until then, have a happy, healthy month! - Kimberly Barrett, Wellness Coordinator.

UNL Health Risk Assessment
November 9th - December 4th
The Health Risk Assessment is a personal health survey that will be implemented across the University system in November. It is completely free and voluntary. No one is able to attain your personal health information- in any form- except for you! Each of the UN locations (UNK, UNL, UNMC, UNO) will be provided an aggregate report only! This report will be used to guide wellness programming at each location. Why participate? Not only will you receive a copy of your personal health results, you will also receive additional preventative care dollars as a part of your UNL BCBS benefits plan. A great document to spread the word and distribute via e-mail to your unit/department: Complete List of Preventative Care Benefits & HRA-Related Enhanced Benefits.

Click here to view/download the HRA flyer to be posted on the Wellness events poster.

We encourage all wellness ambassadors to share this Presentation About HRA with your unit/department, as well. This presentation will take approximately 7-10 minutes to review with staff and covers the main points of the HRA process. If you have additional questions that you cannot answer, please contact us at wellness@unl.edu.
