Employees reap benefits from completing the annual, system-wide wellness program, the Health Risk Assessment.

November 14-December 2 (5pm) all employees will be able to take the online Health Risk Assessment (HRA). The HRA is a valuable educational tool designed to help you learn important information about your current health status and how to improve it. This assessment helps employees get a better understanding of their current health status along with providing them with a personal health report.

UNL Aggregate Results of the 2011 Health Risk Assessment are in. Wellness Programming for 2011-2012 will focus on the following health components: Physical Activity Programming, Nutrition Programming, Weight Management Programming, and Health Screenings.

Employees who are covered by the university's Blue Cross Blue Shield medical insurance, and who complete the HRA, are also eligible for the following enhanced wellness & preventative services benefits.

  • Increased annual adult preventative allowance from $250 to $300
  • Increased dependent child (under age 2) preventative allowance from $500 to $600
  • 100% coverage for routine preventative colonoscopy once every 10 years beginning at age 50.
    (Services must be provided by a Blue Cross Blue Shield 2,500 maximum).
  • $0 copay for generic prescription drugs using mail service only

Smoking Cessation Program

  • Program available for faculty/staff
  • The program is scheduled six consecutive-weeks beginning on the 1st Tuesday of November and meets 1 hour per week.
  • Cost: $10 per person to cover cost of materials.

Join others at UNL with this 100 day Healthy Lifestyle Challenge. Learn to manage your weight in a healthy way. Use this online social networking program to set and attain a physically active, healthy eating lifestyle. With daily exercise and healthy eating tips, videos, and more- this program provides success at your fingertips! It is an ideal tool to help your "New Year to a New You" resolutions become your reality. Friends, family, and co-workers can participate in this UNL Challenge.Register beginning December 1, 2011. Program runs January 23-May 1, 2012. UNL registration steps available December 1.

Need additional help? Consider participating in the UNL "Well on Your Weigh" Program (additional fees apply).

This intensive 12-week Weight Management Program is lead by a licensed registered dietician and a certified weight management and exercise consultant. Participants will meet 5 days/week and will work in group and individually to meet their physical activity, nutrition, and weight management goals. Cost is $250 and includes: 36 group fitness classes, 20 group nutrition education sessions/week, 6 meals, 3 individual sessions with the registered dietician, and 3 individual fitness assessments.
